Next.js Development Company: Fast, Search-Friendly Web Apps on the App Router

Next.js is our default framework for web applications, and this site runs on it too. We build SaaS products, customer portals, dashboards and content-heavy sites on the App Router with React Server Components, TypeScript and PostgreSQL, and we migrate and upgrade existing Next.js codebases. Our engineering team is in Islamabad, Pakistan, and works with clients worldwide. For the wider picture, see our web application development services.

Next.js Problems We Are Usually Brought In to Fix

Slow Pages and Large JavaScript Bundles

Too many client components ship code to the browser that could have run on the server, hurting load times on mid-range phones.

Stuck on the Pages Router

Older apps built on getServerSideProps and getStaticProps cannot easily adopt Server Components, streaming or newer caching features.

Caching Surprises

Data looks stale in one place and refetches too often in another, because caching and revalidation were never designed deliberately.

Secrets and Auth in the Wrong Place

API keys bundled into client code, or access checks done only in the interface instead of on the server and in the database.

Actual Deliverables

What We Build With Next.js

SaaS Products

Multi-tenant applications with authentication, roles, billing and dashboards. See our SaaS development services.

Customer Portals and Internal Tools

Self-service portals and back-office apps with permissions enforced on the server and in PostgreSQL. See customer portal development.

Real-Time Dashboards

Server-rendered first loads combined with WebSocket updates for live data, as in the trading dashboard case study below.

Content and Marketing Sites

Static and incrementally regenerated pages with structured metadata, sitemaps and JSON-LD, connected to a headless CMS or your own database.

MVPs That Can Grow

First versions built on the same production stack, so the product does not need a rewrite after launch. See MVP development.

Migrations and Upgrades

Pages Router to App Router migrations, major version upgrades and moves from a client-rendered React SPA to Next.js.

Side by Side

Next.js vs a React SPA vs a CMS Site: Which Fits Your Project?

When Next.js is the right choice compared with a client-rendered React single-page app (for example built with Vite) or a traditional CMS such as WordPress.

Is Next.js the Right Framework for You?

This is for you if

  • Public pages need to rank

Marketing pages, listings or documentation must be indexable and fast, alongside a logged-in application.

  • You want one TypeScript codebase

Interface, server logic and API routes live together, sharing types and validation schemas.

  • You are building a SaaS product or portal

Authentication, role-based access, dashboards and billing are core to the product.

  • Your current Next.js app is struggling

An older Pages Router codebase, slow pages or a stalled upgrade needs experienced hands.

Not the right fit if

  • A simple site your marketing team edits

A hosted CMS or website builder is usually cheaper and easier to run for a few content pages.

  • A pure native mobile app

Next.js is a web framework. For iOS and Android apps, we use React Native instead, covered by our mobile development service.

  • A team committed to another stack

If your in-house engineers work in a different framework and will maintain the code, building in their stack is usually wiser.

How a Next.js Project Runs

01

Routes, Rendering and Data Model

Plan

We map each route to a rendering strategy (static, dynamic or regenerated), agree the data model and auth rules, and decide what runs on the server versus the client before writing code.

02

Server-First Implementation

Build

Pages start as Server Components, with client components only where interaction needs them. Inputs are validated with shared Zod schemas on both sides, and progress is shown in bi-weekly video walkthroughs.

03

Performance, SEO and Handover

Launch

Before launch we check Core Web Vitals, metadata, sitemaps and structured data, then hand over documentation and deployment pipelines in accounts you own.

Business Problem

Runaway scope creep caused by a lack of upfront technical validation: founders guess at server architectures, misallocate budgets to unnecessary features, and delay database structuring until midway through a build.

Risk Vectors

Migrating and Upgrading Next.js Applications

Pages Router to App Router

Next.js supports running both routers in one app, so we migrate route by route rather than in one risky switch, following the official App Router migration guide. Data fetching moves from getServerSideProps and getStaticProps into Server Components.

Major Version Upgrades

Each major release changes defaults and APIs. We upgrade on a branch, work through the official upgrade guides and codemods, and compare behaviour against the current production build before merging.

From a React SPA to Next.js

Moving a client-rendered React app to Next.js is usually incremental: public pages first for search visibility, then authenticated areas, reusing existing React components wherever possible.

Technical Defense

Architecture, Performance and SEO in Next.js

Server and Client Components

In the App Router, components are Server Components by default and only code marked for the client is sent to the browser (see Server and Client Components). Keeping data fetching and heavy logic on the server is the biggest lever on bundle size.

Static, Dynamic and Incremental Regeneration

Pages that change occasionally can be served statically and refreshed in the background with incremental static regeneration, while personalised pages render per request. We choose per route instead of one setting for the whole app.

Metadata and Structured Data

Titles, descriptions, canonical URLs and Open Graph tags are generated on the server with the Metadata API, alongside JSON-LD and sitemaps, so search engines see complete HTML.

Security on the Server

Secrets stay in server-only code, every Server Action and route handler re-checks authentication and validates input, and data access is enforced in PostgreSQL with row level security rather than only in the interface.

Common Questions

Why choose Next.js over plain React?+
React is a library for building interfaces; Next.js is a framework built on React that adds routing, server rendering, static generation, server-side code and metadata handling. If public pages need to be fast and indexable, or you want interface and server logic in one TypeScript codebase, Next.js is usually the better starting point. The React team's own documentation recommends starting new apps with a framework. For apps that sit entirely behind a login, a client-rendered React app can still be a reasonable choice.
Is Next.js good for SEO?+
It gives you the right foundations. Pages can be rendered on the server or statically, so search engines receive complete HTML, and the Metadata API generates titles, descriptions, canonical URLs and social tags per page. Rankings still depend on content quality, site structure and performance, but Next.js removes the common technical problems of client-only rendering.
Can you migrate our app from the Pages Router to the App Router?+
Yes. Next.js lets both routers run side by side, so we migrate incrementally: shared layouts first, then routes one at a time, moving data fetching into Server Components and keeping the app releasable throughout. We agree the order with you based on traffic and risk, and test each migrated route against the current production behaviour.
Do we have to host on Vercel?+
No. Vercel is the simplest option and we use it often, but Next.js also runs as a Node.js server or in Docker containers on AWS, Google Cloud or other providers. We set up hosting in accounts your company owns, and the choice depends on your compliance needs, existing infrastructure and budget.
What backend do you pair with Next.js?+
For many products, Server Actions and route handlers inside Next.js are enough, with PostgreSQL (often through Supabase) for data and authentication. When the workload needs it, such as event streaming, heavy background processing or machine learning, we add separate Node.js or Python services alongside the Next.js app.
Can you take over an existing Next.js codebase?+
Yes. We start with a review of the architecture, dependencies, security and performance, then give you a prioritised list of fixes before changing anything. If the app was built with AI coding tools, our vibe-coded app rescue service covers that specific situation.
Where is your team, and do you work with clients outside Pakistan?+
Our engineering team is in Islamabad, Pakistan, and we work with clients worldwide, including the UK, US and the Gulf. You work directly with the engineers on your project through a dedicated Slack channel and bi-weekly video walkthroughs, with overlapping working hours agreed at the start.
Who owns the code?+
You do. You own the full IP, including source code, database design and documentation, held in repositories and cloud accounts you control. A 60 to 90 day warranty period covers defects in what we delivered, after which you can support the app in-house or move to a maintenance retainer.
